Driving Department
Does Driving Department offer rental cars?

We do not offer rental vehicles ourselves, but we can help you rent a vehicle from appropriate providers for your trip. Send us your request, and we will arrange a personal appointment with you to discuss all the details.

Who's behind Driving Department?

We are Mo and Kerstin, and we love discovering the world on four wheels. In addition to our activities behind the wheel and in the passenger seat, roadbook in hand, we work as the owners of an independent Design Agency and as PR & Marketing Managers for a global brand.

Can I import my own car for a Trip?

If your vehicle meets the import requirements, you are welcome to participate with us. Please note that it must have valid registration and insurance coverage for Europe. We also recommend that you take out breakdown cover with your insurance company so that your car can be towed to the nearest repair shop in the event of a breakdown.

Which routes are possible to drive?

The variety of roads in the Alps and throughout Europe is diverse — your wishes determine what we plan together with and for you. We are very familiar with Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, and Italy. Send us your request, and we will arrange a personal appointment with you to discuss all the details.

What sizes of groups is possible for the trips?

Our experience shows that groups of 6 vehicles are ideal for experiencing the mountain passes and peaks. For larger groups, we have to take more details into account, as it becomes more difficult to drive to every viewpoint and parking/stopping for refreshments becomes a challenge on the narrow mountain roads. Send us your request here and we will arrange a personal appointment with you to discuss all the details.

Sickalps
How can I join Sicklaps?

Sickalps is not a regular event that can be booked like many others. Places are highly sought after, which is why participation slots are allocated exclusively by lottery. You can register for our raffle and you will automatically be entered into the draw on the next deadline date for Level One. Fifteen rider spots will be raffled off for each of the two slots. With a little luck, we will draw your name and we will see you and the other participants in Level One in Austria.

When will the winners be announced?

On the closing date, we will close our raffle and begin the draw. We will notify the winners within the following two weeks, who will then have the opportunity to confirm or decline their participation. If a winner does not confirm their participation, the vacant place will automatically be raffled among the other participants.

Do I have to raffle each Level?

Once part of the family, always part of the family. So once you've mastered Level 1 with us and enjoyed Sickalps, you can ride the following levels in the next season.

You'll automatically have a place in the driver lineup for the following seasons – here you can decide whether you want to come back and bring a passenger with you or change.

Can I join with my friends?

You can only participate in Sickalps by winning a place. We therefore cannot guarantee that your friend will also win a driver's seat. But you can take him with you as your co-driver and experience the event together in your vehicle if he was less fortunate than you.

Which cars can join Sickalps?

There are no no-gos, because every vehicle can come along. For us, it's not about speed, because we start together and always arrive together – so the slowest is also the fastest – if you have the choice, then take something that will allow you to have an unforgettable time in the mountains.

Our tip: narrow mountain passes are not suitable for every type of vehicle, so keep this in mind when choosing your vehicle. More power does not necessarily mean better performance on mountain roads.

Can I import a car into Europe to participate?

We welcome participants from all over the world, and you are welcome to bring your own vehicle to get the most out of the experience.

If your vehicle meets the import requirements, you are welcome to participate with it. Please note that it must have valid registration and insurance coverage for Europe.

We also recommend that you take out breakdown cover with your insurance company so that your car can be towed to the nearest garage in the event of a breakdown.

When will Sickalps take place?

Sickalps always starts shortly after the pass roads open in mid/end June in Austria. The subsequent levels vary and depend on many external factors that we have to take into account when planning: bike races, hiking days, holidays, closures, and construction sites are fundamental to our planning.

When do I have to pay for Sickalps?

You will receive all further information from us with your prize notification. Please note that payment will be due approximately one week after ending of acceptance time.

How much does it cost and what do I get for it?

The costs for the various Sickalps levels vary depending on the country and type of level. In Austria, for example, we have toll charges, whereas other countries do not. We always put together a package to suit all budgets so that everyone can take part.
